January Recap: Heartwarming Moments and Milestones

January 4: Pet Therapy Session with Henry, Mikey, and Holly

We began the month with a heartwarming Pet Therapy session featuring Henry, Mikey, and Holly, spreading joy to the residents at Pacifica Senior Living in Vacaville.

January 5: Farrier Day for Josephine, Leo, Dylan, Strider, and Chloe

Farrier Day brought Josephine, Leo, Dylan, Strider, and Chloe some much-needed hoof care, ensuring their comfort and well-being. The cost for this service was $250.

January 6: Taking Action for Elliott's Adoption

After coming across The Blind Spot Sanctuary's Facebook post about a dog named 'Elliott', we reached out to Wake County Animal Shelter regarding his adoption. This marked the beginning of Elliott's journey of becoming a Lucky One.

January 9: Elliott Finds Temporary Refuge in Foster Care

Elliott found a temporary home with his foster parents, Rachel and Jeremy, in North Carolina.

January 11: Sully's Cancer Check-Up Appointment with Dr. Knott

Sully received a thorough re-check of his mass from Dr. Knott at Loomis Basin Equine Vet. The visit incurred a cost of $190.

January 12: Busy Day at the Ranch

Chowder and Henry received grooming services, totaling $90. Dr. Karen provided care to our limping sheep, Baahnana and Baguette, incurring expenses of $285. Bentley and Chowder underwent acupuncture and arthritis treatments, with Chowder also receiving his first injection of Librela, amounting to $643.94. Rachel, Elliott's foster mom, took him to Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in North Carolina for a thorough examination of his tumor, with costs totaling $665.39. And to top the day off, George decided to fly the coop again.

January 14: Elliott's Additional Visit to VEG

Elliott required an additional visit to VEG for his tumor, which cost $82.96.

January 16: Welcome Back, George!

We welcomed back George, the guinea fowl, who briefly flew away from the ranch. For those not familiar with George’s story, George often joins the local wild turkeys on their excursions and will be gone for weeks at a time. We were delighted that he came back within two days.

January 18: Chowder's 2nd Gotcha Day, Pet Therapy and Hay Delivery

We celebrated Chowder's 2nd Gotcha Day, marking another year that he’s made so much progress. Meanwhile, Henry, Mikey, and Holly continued their bi-weekly pet therapy visits to Pacific Senior Living, spreading joy and companionship to the residents. Additionally, a hay delivery from Atkinson Hay ensured that our animal residents remain well-fed, with 80 bales incurring a cost of $1,270.

January 21: Elliott Begins His Journey to Lucky Ones Ranch

Elliott embarked on his journey from Raleigh, North Carolina to Lucky Ones Ranch, marking the beginning of his new chapter with us.

January 22: Bentley's Medical Check-up at SAGE Veterinary Center

Bentley received a thorough medical check-up and a new eye prescription from his ophthalmologist at SAGE which cost $239.10.

January 25: Celebrating Vince’s Birthday and Elliott’s Arrival

Elliott arrived safely following his cross-country journey from North Carolina with Dena from Roll-a-Pet Transport. We also had the pleasure of celebrating Vince's birthday, making it a memorable occasion for all. It was a wonderful gift to welcome Elliott and celebrate Vince's special day!

January 26: Grooming and Elliott’s Pre-Op Exam

Both Chowder and Elliott enjoyed grooming sessions. Additionally, Elliott underwent a pre-operative examination by Dr. Riddle in preparation for his upcoming procedure.

January 29: Significant Milestones for Elliott and Minnie

A significant day as Elliott underwent mass removal surgery, incurring a cost of $3,175.95. Additionally, Minnie the cat became ill received medical attention which cost $4,035.37.
