August Actions: Care & Community

Here is a list of Lucky Ones Ranch events and community appearances for the month of August 2023 :

August 1: Celebrated Dodger’s 6th Gotcha-Day!

August 2: Pena Adobe Camp - we (Thao along with 4 volunteers spoke with 30 summer campers and discussed the mission of the Lucky Ones Ranch. We brought one sheep ‘Baaxter’ / ‘Hutch’ goat/ ‘Precious’ llama and 5 dogs: Fonzie, Stevie, Holly, Tommy and Henry.

August 3: Pacifica Senior Living visit. Brought Henry, Mikey and Holly along with volunteer Barb for pet therapy.

  • Bentley (16.5 year old Cattle Dog) went to VEG for an emergency exam on his eye.

August 5: Rachel’s Paint Party, 17 participants painted their pets and helped raise $500 for LOR.

  • Isabelle vet appointment at Medical Center for Birds and discovered she had a mass. $1250 deposit for the surgery. Surgery to remove mass was on August 7th. Isabelle came home on the 11th and ultimately passed away on the August 15th.

August 8: Bentley & Henry acupuncture at Southhampton Pet Hospital $465.90.

August 9: Bentley went to Sage for an ophthalmology appointment $233.74

August 10: Sully’s skin cancer mass partially removed $210.

  • Taco Thursday: Hosted 25 sponsors and guests for tacos at the ranch.

August 12: Hay Wagon picked up in San Diego $500.

August 13: We celebrated Precious’ 13th Birthday!

August 16: Ziggy & Marley (donkeys) sedated for hoof trims and re-check for Sully’s wound by Dr. K $285 / trims were $100 ($50 ea.)

August 19: Lola suffered an injury and went to the Medical Center for Birds

  • She was humanely euthanized on August 22nd.

August 31: Taco Thursday: Hosted 25 sponsors and guests for tacos at the ranch.

  • Stevie had a vet visit for a limp with his front right paw.
